Looking for something very fun and very unique for your next date night? Look no further than curling at Brookview Golf + Lawn Bowling in Golden Valley. Who said date night has to be 1 on 1? We grabbed some of our favorite couples and checked out this new promotion on Let’s Go. We had a blast! First we started with some drinks and an app to warm up inside at the Three One Six bar before trying our hand at their curling rinks right outside. The temp was in the low 30’s but because of the heaters they have next to the rink it keeps it very comfortable. They hook you up with a rules and scoring sheet so even amateurs to the game like us could quickly understand how it works. This is one of the best date ideas for both couples who have been together for years and want something new but also for first dates as it gives you a fun activity to help break up the awkwardness of a constant conversation.
Let’s Go Promo: Two beers or wine, an app and one hour of rink time for $25
Born and raised Minnesotans but neither of us have ice skated for over 20 years! We thought we’d be brave and try something new not knowing if we’d be there for more than 5 minutes. We checked out the Wells Fargo Winter Skate at Loring Park. Best part of it (besides the view) was it’s completely free including skate rental. Happy to report I only fell once and Lexie was a natural! This was a great way to get out and enjoy the fresh Minnesota winter air without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for something active for date night or without spending a dime this is a must do!
Bonus Tip: Bring some spiked hot chocolate to keep you warm
This was a really fun way to try something new from your traditional dinner and drinks routine. We opted into the private session with wine and chocolate after. For novice Pilatians? Pilatites? Pilatiers? like ourselves the private session was great since we could take our time with our instructor Katherine and learn how to use the equipment and proper form. The workout was no joke, it burns more than a Yo Mama joke from the early 2000’s and that was just a beginner’s class. The bottle of wine and chocolate covered butterscotch after was a nice motivation to push through the pain.
Checked out this place to try something new and wasn’t disappointed. Casual environment with great burgers and games makes it a great spot for both first dates and your 1,124th date! We each got a burger and a cocktail and then were given a free $10 game card to go play games after dinner. Selection isn’t as big as a Dave & Busters but also much cheaper than D&Bs and even has a lot of free games like Giant Jenga & Connect 4. They even have a giant foosball table!
Let’s Go Date Deal: Free $15 Game Card when you purchase 2 drinks and 2 meals or Free $5 Game Card when you purchase 2 drinks
This was a surprisingly very fun date spot. We were on a health kick before our cruise so we had already ate dinner but wanted to grab a drink and try out the ‘Pour Your Own Beer’ wall. What we thought would be an hour turned into 3 listening to the live music they have every Thursday night. Cross Current was playing doing covers of classic songs with their island style twist! They also have a full bar of cocktails if you don’t like beer. It’s become our new go-to when we’re looking for drinks and live music!
Let’s Go Date Deal: Free App or 2 Drinks & 2 Entrees for $35
When it comes to the first date, we believe most men will usually pick something simple and low pressure, such as grab drinks, but based on a survey we conducted with over 500 women from the age of 20 – 30, we believe most women would rather do something more fun, active and adventurous.
We simply asked these women what is their favorite first date activity. While grabbing drinks was the #1 activity, only 18% of women admit grabbing drinks is the best first date activity and 82% of women would rather do something else.
So whether you find your next date at the bar, on an app or at the grocery store, try one of the Top 10 First Date Activities according to women, which hopefully can make you positively stand out and improve your chances of landing that heavily coveted…second date!
#10 Mini Golfing – Many women admitted in this survey they like competition, and there may be no better way to get the competitive juices flowing than with a game of mini-golf. Regardless of how good you are on a real golf course, most have a fighter’s chance in putt-putt.
#9 Arcade – While video games may seem nerdy, many women enjoy playing them and going to an adult arcade was the 9th favorite first date activity. Arcades are another great way to have a friendly competition, as well as get a flash back of the childhood days over a game of Mario Kart.
#8 Movie – Going to the movies is still a top first date activity among women; however, we advise planning on meeting your date before or after the movie for drinks or dinner because women constantly admitted good conversation was crucial on a first date.
#7 Bowling – Strikes or spares it really doesn’t matter, because women love bowling as a first date activity. It gets the competitive spirits going, but also a fun way to get to know each other between frames. We recommend put a little wager on each game to make the match more exciting ;).
#6 Watch Sports – The Fall, Winter and Spring are prime-time seasons for all kinds of sports, and asking your date to watch their favorite sports team in action can go a long way on a first date. While going to a fun sports bar will be exciting, we guarantee you will score major bonus points if you are able to get tickets to the game.
#5 OutsideActivities – Hiking, biking or any activity outdoors came in as the #5 favorite first date activity. Depending on the weather, pick a scenic state park or touristic hiking trail, but you will probably gain some creative bonus points if you can plan a spot to stop during the adventure to refresh with a cocktail or beer.
#4 Coffee – While most assume women prefer adult beverages, our survey indicates many women prefer meeting for a cup of coffee. The setting is quieter, which allows for better conversation, and the date can occur morning, afternoon or night. We do recommend be spontaneous and find a new coffee shop your date hasn’t tried.
#3 Brewery – Many women love beer, and finding a fun brewery was the 3rd favorite first date activity. If it’s her first time at the brewery, make sure to buy a beer flight, and you may possibly earn some bonus points if the brewery has some sort of entertainment such as trivia.
#2 Dinner – Many millennial men rarely ask to go out to dinner on the first date because it seems to be too old fashion, but dinner still ranked as the #2 favorite first date activity. If you decide to go this route, we definitely recommend finding a spot your date hasn’t tried to add some excitement.
#1 Drinks – Although our survey indicates most women want to do more exciting activities than grabbing drinks on a first date, it is still not a bad option. To spice up the date, we recommend finding a bar with some sort of entertainment, such as live music or trivia. But make sure the setting is quite enough to chat, because women consistently expressed throughout our survey good conversation was the most important part of the first date.
Who says a date has to be in the evening? This is one of our favorite dates and a weekly tradition. I’ll drive Lexie to work one day a week and on the way we will stop at a coffee shop or if we’re in a hurry we’ll grab some at the gas station and sip on it in the car for a few minutes before she has to start work. It ensures we get at least one day during the week to spend some time together without any distractions. While it is fun to hit up the town, we have quickly learned some of the best experiences can be great conversation over a cup of coffee. If you struggle to make time for each other try this idea.
Our time at First Draft Taproom in Minneapolis, felt like a date night experience in the future. When you check in you get a wristband that you swipe on one of their 51 beers, wines or ciders on tap to pour as much or as little as you want. We had a lot of fun trying a bunch of taps and it was nice to be able to try it before you committed to a whole glass. Lexie doesn’t like beer so it was nice they had ciders and wine on tap for her. We also got the Backyard Grilled Steak and the Mediterranean Hummus Platter, which was PHENOMENAL!
We highly recommend First Draft Taproom for those who love trying new drinks and eating great high-end pub grub. We got 2 menu items and 4 total drinks, and we were able to enjoy a great night without spending $40 with the help of Let’s Go Date Deals.
Let’s Go Promotion: An Appetizer, 2 Entrees and a Dessert for $30 or BOGO Menu Items
